How Much Do Custom Closets Cost?

When you visit a custom closet website, including ours, you might notice that many of them don’t give you specific prices. The reason for this is because as with most custom home improvement projects, costs vary widely. Purchasing a product off of a shelf gives you a clear price, but having custom work done in your home doesn’t until after you meet with your contractor and get a price quote.

Still, it can be good to understand a starting point when it comes to custom closets. Naturally, you want to know if this type of project is worth considering based on your available budget. So we would like to talk about a few ballpark estimates. Remember that these are unlikely to be the actual prices of custom closets for your home; all they are is a figure to start with so that you can decide if looking further into custom closets is a feasible option.

How much does it cost to have...

a walk-in closet?

Walk-in closets run the gamut from simple shelving and clothing rods, to complex storage spaces with a wardrobe lift and a wide variety of closet accessories. Our simplest walk-in closets start at about $1,000, but most homeowners spend in the neighborhood of $1,500 to $2,000. Larger closets with more options add up to higher prices, so your custom closet could be above that if you have a lot of space or a lot of extra features.

a reach-in closet?

Most of the closets in your home are reach-in closets. These include hall closets, coat closets, linen closets and, most of the time, kids’ closets. A very basic system could cost as little as $150. The typical reach-in closet, though will add up to about $800-1,000, and could cost more.

a custom pantry?

Aside from bedroom closets, custom pantries are among the most popular services that we provide. A good ballpark estimate for the average kitchen pantry is a starting price of about $500.

a custom home office?

With a growing number of Americans working from home, custom home offices are also very popular. Planning to spend $1,000 or more would be a reasonable guess, keeping in mind that more options equal higher prices.

a Murphy bed?

If you don’t have a guest bedroom, a Murphy bed, also called a wall bed, can really open up the possibilities for hosting overnight visitors. These are also great for college students who return home in the summer, as well as a sick spouse or partner who wants his or her own sleeping space until fully recovered. These start at about $5,000.
As you can see, prices for custom closets and home organizers vary widely, depending on what you want and need. The only way to get an accurate price quote, however, is to call for a free consultation appointment. During this session, we can go over all of the options with you, take measurements and find out about how you intend to use your space. From there, we can give you a price quote that is customized for your space. Call today to get the process started.
